Friends & Family Fridays

Our Friends & Family Fridays are generally an unstructured and unscripted time for adults and kids to read together and celebrate our love of books. After checking in, parents and guardians can go classrooms. We will read together in classrooms, or other nooks around the building.  Families may want to even circle up with other students who don't have a guest with us that morning.

For our morning events, guests are invited to stay for assemblies at 9:10.  

For our afternoon events, parents/guardians will have the opportunity to check their students out earlier, if desired.  We will ask that all vehicles are off the back playground by 3:30 so we can start lining up for dismissal at 3:40.  

YES!  We want our families to read in classrooms with their students - and potentially any friends who don't have a guest on that day. 

Absolutely. Families are welcome to read together in one classroom, if desired, or even in another common space around the building. For morning events, we do ask that students do a quick check-in with classroom teachers, just so we know you are here.

Parking is available in lots on the east and south sides of campus. We will also open the playground gates, allowing for additional parking on the blacktop. Please do not park around the perimeter of our lots in a manner that could block incoming/exiting traffic. 

It's likely that some guests will also need to park on neighboring streets. Those parking in the back lot or on the playground will be asked to walk around the building to enter through their assigned door (see below). Please remember that normal carpool drop-off will continue for many students, so watch for traffic and be careful walking through our lots.

For security purposes, we screen all visitors to Tillman's campus through our Raptor Visitor Management System. This process is pretty fast if there's only one person checking in, but our lines would be very long if we had dozens of parents wanting to check in at the same time. Guests who preregister will have pre-printed ID stickers waiting for them at their assigned doors, drastically cutting down on our check-in times and allowing you to spend more time in classrooms with our students. You can preregister until 3pm on the Thursday afternoon before each Friends & Family event (links found above).

You certainly can register in person on Friday morning/afternoon, but this will almost certainly mean you'll have less time with students in classrooms. If you think you may attend on Friday but aren't 100% sure, we suggest that you preregister to ensure an ID sticker can be ready for you - just in case.

While we'd love to have all doors open and available to all guests, that would unfortunately compromise security and use of the Raptor system.  Visitor badges for pre-registered guests will be organized alphabetically by adults' last names, with A-G at the East Front Doors, H-N at the Center Front Doors, and O-Z at the West Front Doors.  Your pre-printed ID stickers will be waiting for you at these assigned doors - and only these doors - if you preregistered. 

Please remember that all guests should bring a driver's license or other form of photo ID, even if you've registered and have a pre-printed sticker waiting for you. Anyone without an ID will need to go to the main office.
