School Supply Information

Tillman offers families a simple, cost-effective approach to school supplies, with the option to pay a one-time fee of $35 per child.  This covers the cost of all supplies for your child — excluding a backpack, lunchbox, water bottle, and headphones.* Our office uses this $35 fee to order the supplies we need for classrooms in bulk. Families can pay for school supplies via their MySchoolBucks account or by cash/check (made out to KSD) in the Tillman office. If you would like to purchase your own supplies, please see the supply lists below for the 2026-27 school year.

In addition to the school supply fee, families of students entering 3rd-5th grade are asked to purchase and label their own USB-C headphones or earbuds. Please note: our iPads do not have a headphone jack. Students will need USB-C headphones or an adapter. Headphones or earbuds will belong to each student and will not be part of shared classroom supplies. K-2 students will have headphones purchased by the district that are compliant with our digital phonics resource.  All 5th grade students will also need to purchase a 1.5-inch binder, in addition to the $35 fee.

We use this approach for several reasons.

  1. We enjoy being a more sustainable school, and this method helps minimize waste. Teachers can order supplies as needed throughout the year, instead of trying to predict what they may need in advance and ending up with extras at the end of the year (or not having enough and then having to scramble and ask for donations during the year).

  2. This process tends to save Tillman families time and money. Often, families end up paying more than $35 to purchase everything on traditional supply lists.

  3. With most teachers using shared (community) supplies, buying in bulk helps prevent students from feeling upset when what they bought is put into the class supply pool and is not theirs alone to use. In addition, teachers tend to appreciate having matching and uniform supplies.

  4. We can order from our district suppliers and get better quality and prices than those offered in supply kits.
